The source of water supply in Semey is underground and surface waters of the Irtysh River. Water supply to the population of Semey is provided by the enterprise “Semey Vodokanal”. Shakarim University is located in Semey city, therefore central water supply and sewerage is used. At the same time, the university has launched a Water Conservation Policy (introduction of water-saving appliances). Automatic watering of lawns and forest vegetation is used.

All academic buildings of the university are provided with coolers with free drinking water.
