For foreign students
If you are a foreign applicant and plan to complete a full undergraduate course at Shakarim University, you need knowledge of the Russian language at a minimum level - B2, as well as English at the Pre-Intermediate / Intermediate level. It is important to fully complete the previous education in order to be able to study at Shakarim University and obtain a bachelor's degree.

Admission of foreign citizens to study at Shakarim University on a paid basis is carried out based on the results of an interview conducted by the admission committee during the calendar year.
After successfully passing the interview, you will need to provide the following documents to the selection committee:
- copy of the passport;
- copy of the document on the previous level of education with an attachment;
- motivational essay in English;
- recommendation letter;
- medical certificate for studying abroad, as well as a medical certificate of the absence of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV infection) and AIDS, issued by the official health authority of the candidate's country of residence;
- letter of invitation from Shakarim University (the university will provide a letter after receiving a copy of the passport and a copy of the document on the previous level of education with an attachment).
Deadline for submission of documents: until June 01 of the current calendar year.
Documents in a foreign language are provided with a notarized translation into Kazakh or Russian.
Note. This means that we have to make a notarized translation of your document about the previous level of education here in Kazakhstan.

Climate in Semey
The climate of the city is sharply continental, which is associated with the greatest distance from the oceans on the mainland and causes large amplitudes in the annual and daily temperature variations. The territory is open to the Arctic basin, but isolated by the mountain systems of Asia from the influence of the Indian Ocean.
The average annual temperature is 4.3°C. There are large temperature fluctuations in the daily course. Temperatures can reach -48.6°C in winter and 42.5°C in summer. The average annual wind speed is 2.3 m/s, the average annual air humidity is 66%.

Procedure for nostrification of documents
This service is provided by the Committee for Control in the Sphere of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The procedure for providing the service is carried out in accordance with the regulations developed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MES RK).
Submission of an application and necessary documents, as well as issuance of certificates of recognition / nostrification of documents is carried out through:
- RSE "Center for the Bologna Process and Academic Mobility" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- NJSC State Corporation "Government for Citizens"
It is necessary to plan the nostrification in advance, because the term for consideration of the application and the issuance of a certificate is 4 months. In addition, if any of the required documents is missing, you may be refused in writing. In some cases, the procedure may take longer:
- if the foreign organization that issued the document of education (diploma) does not receive a response to confirm the authenticity of the document;
- if the document does not meet the state compulsory education standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the person needs to be tested.
In all these cases, the nostrification process is extended by one month until the necessary conditions are met.
Recognition and nostrification of educational documents
To obtain a certificate of recognition of a document of education, the following documents are submitted: https://egov.kz/cms/en/services/185pass_mon
- application for recognition of education documents;
- a copy of the legalized or apostilled document on education and its annex (the original for verification must be returned) and a notarized translation (if the document is completely in a foreign language) of the document on education and its annex, including the translation of the seal stamp.
When issuing a document on education in a country-party to an international treaty (agreement) on legal assistance, which provides for the abolition of the legalization of official documents to which the Republic of Kazakhstan is a party, its legalization or apostille is not required, a notarized copy of the document on education and its annexes shall be submitted , and a notarized translation (if the document is completely in a foreign language).
- identity document of the owner of the document on education (for personal identification) or an authorized representative on the basis of a notarized power of attorney.
For non-residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan - a copy of the identity document of the owner of the education document (with translation into Kazakh or Russian).
If the holder of the document on education changed the last name, first name or patronymic (if any) after receiving it, it is necessary to submit a copy of the certificate of state registration of acts of recording the change of last name, first name or patronymic (if any) or an act record of marriage or divorce;
- payment receipt (not required in case of repeated application).
The Service Recipient submits confirmation of his training, including documents on admission to professional activities, practical experience in order to comply with the requirements established in paragraph 13 of these Rules. Notarized copies of these documents are submitted together with their notarized translations (if the document is completely in a foreign language), including the translation of seals.
Certification of the translation of documents specified in this paragraph into Kazakh or Russian is carried out by a notary in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan or by the diplomatic service of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the country in which the document was issued.
The day of receipt of documents is not included in the period for the provision of public services.
If you are a citizen of a country which Kazakhstan has a visa regime with, you need a student visa of category C9 in order to study at Shakarim University.

To get a visa you need:
1. To find the visa procedure on the website of the consular mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan in your country;
2. Fill in the invitation letter form (Visaform DE and Visaform ENG) to obtain the initial student visa;
3. Send the following documents to the Center for International Cooperation of Shakarim University, email address international.office@shakarim.kz
- Complete form of invitation letter;
- Copy of passport;
- Copy of the contract between Shakarim University and the foreign educational institution, where the clause on the passage of internships and practices is registered;
- Confirmation of hotel reservation in Semey;
- Booked ticket.
We will send you an invitation letter within 15 working days. It must be submitted to the Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in your country along with other documents for visa.
Complete list of documents for visa is as follows:
- letter of invitation from Shakarim University;
- a passport with a validity period not earlier than 6 months of the requested visa, and having at least 2 blank pages for visa processing;
- a completed visa application form (can be downloaded on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan or on the website of the embassy or consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in your country of residence);
- color photo size 3.5×4.5;
- an agreement between the university and the student/foreign educational institution;
- receipt of payment of the consular fee;
- if necessary, additional documents may be requested.
The term for issuing a visa is 5 working days.
EXTENSION OF MULTIPLE-ENTRY VISA FOR EDUCATION (C9)
To extend a visa in the Republic of Kazakhstan, you need to submit the following documents to the Center for International Cooperation (no later than 14 working days before the visa expires):
- a passport with a validity period not earlier than 6 months of the requested visa, and having at least 2 blank pages for visa processing;
- color photo 3.5 × 4.5 cm;
- completed visa application form;
- a certificate confirming that you are a student of Shakarim University (issued at the Student Services Center);
- consular fee in the amount of 30 monthly calculation indices (paid in tenge).
Foreign student must take care of:
- the extension of the validity of their national passport or its replacement;
- about the restoration of the passport in case of its loss;
- in case of renewal or replacement of the passport, provide a copy of the passport to the Center for International Cooperation.

Foreigners who arrived on the territory of Kazakhstan with a valid Kazakhstan visa of any category issued after July 1, 2018 are considered automatically registered for the period of validity of visas.
All foreign citizens who entered Kazakhstan on valid Kazakh visas do not need to fill out migration cards upon arrival in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Foreign citizens who arrived in the Republic of Kazakhstan under a visa-free regime (applies to citizens of 45 countries listed below), as well as students of Shakarim University with an issued student visa, must submit their passports to the Student Service Center on the day of arrival or the next day for subsequent notification to the Migration Police Department of Semey city about their entry:

Sanitary and epidemiological requirements
Upon arrival in Kazakhstan, every foreign citizen, including holders of a residence permit, must have a negative PCR test with them. It must be issued no later than 72 hours before the moment of crossing the border. This requirement applies to all types of border crossings, with the exception of children under the age of 5 years, if the persons accompanying them have a certificate. In case of arrival with an expired PCR certificate, a foreigner may be deported.
In addition, all persons who arrived in the Republic of Kazakhstan by air from abroad (with the exception of government delegations of the Republic of Kazakhstan; airline crews) undergo thermometry, questionnaires and are required to submit a certificate of passing the COVID-19 test by PCR (in Kazakh or Russian or English), from the date of issuance of the result of which no more than 3 days have passed at the time of crossing the state border of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Foreign students with a residence permit in the Republic of Kazakhstan must undergo temporary registration if the actual address of residence does not correspond to the permanent address of registration.
The student bears full responsibility, including material (payment of penalties), in case of violation of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and / or these Rules.
All costs associated with staying on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the student bears independently.

All foreign students who arrived in the Republic of Kazakhstan must provide their passports on the day of arrival or the next day for registration of a notice of arrival at the Migration Police Department of the city of Semey.

This notification procedure must be carried out every time after crossing the border!
After completing the notification procedure, it is necessary to go through the procedure "Registration of foreigners and stateless persons temporarily residing in the Republic of Kazakhstan".
To complete these procedures on the day of arrival or the next day, you need to provide the following documents to the Shakarim University Student Service Center:
- original passport;
- original notarized consent to stay from the owner of the apartment;
- a copy of the identity card of the owner of the apartment;
- an extract from the order on enrolling you at Shakarim University (issued at the Student Service Center of Shakarim University);
- HIV certificate (valid for 1 month). In case of changing the address of residence, immediately (no later than 2 days) inform the Student Service Center of Shakarim University about this for timely re-registration of you at the Semey Citizen Service Center.
