History of University

Shakarim University, founded in 1934, is a witness to the development of education in the country. Documents dating back to the 1930s in the archive tell stories.

June 23, 1934 VKP (6) East Kazakhstan regional bureau considered the issue "On the organization of the Kazakh Pedagogical Institute in Semey." In the same year, it was decided to create a pedagogical institute in the city of Semey of the Council of People's Commissars of the Kazakh SSR.

July 10, 1936 - Semipalatinsk Pedagogical Institute. Saken Seifullin.

March 9, 1939 - Semipalatinsk Pedagogical Institute. N.K. Krupskaya.

May 12, 1993 - Semipalatinsk State Pedagogical Institute named after N.K. Krupskaya was renamed into Semipalatinsk State Pedagogical Institute named after Shakarim.

On November 13, 1995 by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 1513 and by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science dated December 1, 1995 No. 304 on the basis of 3 institutes (Semipalatinsk Pedagogical Institute, Semipalatinsk Zootechnical Institute, Semipalatinsk Technological Institute), it was decided to establish Semipalatinsk State University.

At the time of its foundation, the university had five faculties.

September 22, 1999 - By the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Semipalatinsk State University was renamed into Semipalatinsk State University named after Shakarim.

February 14, 2000 - In accordance with the order of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 129 dated February 15, 2000, the state financial institution became part of the Shakarim Semipalatinsk State University

On February 3, 2004, the Semipalatinsk State Pedagogical Institute was expelled from the university on the basis of the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 128 and the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 182 dated March 4, 2004.

November 2008 - A monument to Shakarim was unveiled at the main building of the university.

On May 31, 2013, by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Semipalatinsk State Pedagogical Institute and Semipalatinsk State University named after Shakarim were merged. The university was named the Shakarim State University of the city of Semey.

Shakarim University trains interdisciplinary specialists in the most complex social, humanitarian, natural, technical, agricultural, business and legal fields.

In the field of specialties there are more than forty bachelors, in several - higher special education, about thirty specialties of magistracy and doctoral studies in five specialties.
