Supervisor: Shayakhmetovzhanan Yarnarovich, PhD, - Project Manager ORCID ID – 0000-0002-7986-0083

Relevance:

The project is relevant for several related branches of physics, materials science and mechanical engineering. According to the project, work will be carried out to optimize the geometry, dimensions and placement of local solid inclusions in the surface layer of the part, ensuring minimal friction losses and maximum wear resistance. Creating a high level of compressive stresses in the surface of the part will increase its strength and provide stress relaxation under dynamic loads. Thus, the topic of the work aimed at improving the electrolyte-plasma method in order to use it to improve the operational properties of freight car parts seems relevant.

Target:

Development of a technological process of electrolytic-plasma hardening of wear surfaces, which allows to increase the durability of truck parts of a freight car, as well as the study of changes in structural and phase states, mechanical and tribological characteristics of 20GL steel depending on the mode of electrolytic-plasma hardening.

Expectation:

The optimal mode of electrolytic-plasma hardening of steels will be established. An automated installation for electrolytic-plasma hardening of steel products will be manufactured.

The relationship between the structure of the hardened steel and its tribological properties will be established.

The main regularities of the formation of the dislocation substructure of medium-carbon steels during electrolyte-plasma hardening will be established. Wear mechanisms of steels treated with electrolyte-plasma hardening will be installed.

The relationship of tribological and physico-mechanical properties with the structural-phase state of steels treated with electrolyte-plasma hardening will be established.

Tests of hardened samples of 20GL steel will be carried out in conditions simulating the work of the spring beam of a freight car trolley.

The explatational properties of the truck parts of the freight car before and after electrolyte-plasma hardening will be evaluated.

Based on the conducted experimental studies and tests, a method of electrolytic-plasma hardening of cast steel 20GL used for the manufacture of a spring beam and side frames of a freight car trolley will be developed.

The technological process of repairing the worn parts of a freight car trolley with the use of resource-saving technology of electrolyte-plasma hardening will be developed and proposed for implementation.
