The team from Shakarim University worthily represented Kazakhstan at the International Geodesy Olympiad in Novosibirsk.
From May 19 to 23, 2025, the 10th International Student Olympiad in Geodesy was held at the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies in Novosibirsk (Russian Federation), bringing together 11 teams from leading universities across Russia and the CIS countries. Kazakhstan was proudly represented by the Shakarim University team, which brought together the strongest students from the 6B07301 "Geodesy and Cartography" educational program—members of the scientific club "Geostroy."
Team members: Nurali Tolegenov, Miras Mauken, Nurdaulet Aben, Almira Olzhabayeva, and Mukhametali Zhumagazhinov.
The team was supervised by senior lecturers of the “Construction and Geodesy” department, Zarina Beksultanova and Gulnur Seitkazina, who ensured high-quality preparation and provided support at every stage of the Olympiad.
As a result of intense and exciting competition among the top participating universities, the Shakarim University team took 2nd place. The team’s victory was marked by the following honorary awards:
Diploma of 2nd degree in the competition "Theodolite Traverse"
Diploma of 2nd degree in the sports competition
Each team member received a certificate for active participation in the 10th International Olympiad. The instructors were awarded letters of gratitude for their contribution to the development of international student cooperation in the field of geodesy.
What does this victory mean to us? Of course, it is a sign of the students’ personal achievements and, at the same time, a reflection of the systematic work of the "Construction and Geodesy" department, which is currently at a stage of growth. The department is staffed by young, motivated teachers who are actively involved in both scientific and educational activities. The department is headed by PhD Ilyas Zhumadilov, who has proven himself as a leader of the new generation.
It is worth noting that on May 28, two modern laboratories—the geotechnical laboratory and the construction materials laboratory—were opened at the department. These facilities are already actively used in the educational process, graduation projects, and students' scientific research.
Participation in the Olympiad once again confirmed: Shakarim University trains internationally competitive professionals, where students learn how to win.
