Fragrant Soap-Making Project by Shakarim University Students

Fragrant Soap-Making Project by Shakarim University Students

Young researchers from Shakarim University are working on improving a unique technology for producing fragrant soaps. Students of group B1-201 from the School of Sports and Natural Sciences have launched a project focused on developing high-quality soap recipes based on perfume compositions using natural and eco-friendly ingredients.

During their research, the students explored two main soap-making methods: the hot process and the cold process. In the hot process, the soap cools and hardens within 24–48 hours, whereas the cold process requires 4–6 weeks for the soap to fully cure. Each method has its own distinct advantages and features, which were carefully studied during the project.

“Our project, titled ‘Research on the Technology of Fragrant Soap Production Based on Perfume Compositions,’ initially started as a small-scale research activity driven by student interest. As the work progressed, their enthusiasm to apply their knowledge in practice grew, and the study has now evolved into a full-fledged experimental project,”

— says Asel Medetova, the project supervisor and a lecturer from the Department of Chemistry and Biology at the School of Sports and Natural Sciences.

The student researchers also incorporate aloe vera gel, extracted from aloe plants they have grown themselves. This natural ingredient helps prevent skin irritation and allergic reactions. Each soap recipe is crafted with carefully selected perfume scents, blended with natural oils, and then tested for quality and scent longevity.

The students aim to use these soaps as part of ongoing experimental research, further enhancing their understanding of natural product formulation.
