As part of the "Жас ғалым" scientific grant, Dr.Ph. Aigerim Buranbayeva is currently conducting research in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the topic "Development of a Real-Time Building Foundation Monitoring System Using Distributed Fiber-Optic Sensors". This project aims to develop innovative solutions for monitoring the condition of building foundations from the construction phase through to operation.
As the project leader, Dr. Aigerim Buranbayeva is currently working in close collaboration with the scientific consultant, Dr.Ph. Bun Pin Tee, a leading research fellow at one of the world’s top companies.
The internship is taking place in the laboratories of Smart Sensing Technology Sdn Bhd, one of the world’s leading providers of distributed fiber-optic sensing technologies. This company is actively developing customized solutions to meet the stringent demands of the construction industry, which is a key aspect of the research conducted under the grant. To date, the company is recognized as one of the specialists in the field of geotechnical and structural testing, as well as in the monitoring of structures in seismically hazardous regions.
In addition, Dr. Buranbayeva had the opportunity to visit the "Civil Engineering" laboratory at Monash University's School of Engineering (Malaysia), which allowed her to become familiar with advanced research in this field. This experience has been both inspiring and enriching, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the outcomes of the project supported by the "Жас ғалым" grant.
