Innovative Youth Are Needed for Public Service

Ruslan Sharipov, Head of the Department of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs in the Abai region, held an important meeting with 4th-year students of Shakarim University.

The event, titled "Searching for and Attracting Talents to the Public Sector," was attended by the university’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Beyimbet Dariybaev, the Director of the Abai Regional Branch of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aset Abzhakov, as well as Shakarim University graduates working in the field of public service.

During the meeting, students received a comprehensive explanation of the significance and importance of public service. It was emphasized that students studying under the state order at universities with a GPA above 3.33 can be admitted to public service at rural and district levels without a competitive exam. This is an effective way to actively involve youth in the country’s development.

In the Abai region, 33 university graduates have already been admitted to public service through this simplified procedure and are contributing to the socio-economic development of the region. This year, 14 young professionals have been officially appointed to public service and have started their careers.

Furthermore, participation in the "Young Public Servants School" provides young people with the opportunity to develop their skills, enhance professional expertise, and become competitive in the labor market. This school is an excellent platform and a significant step in a public service career.

The number of Shakarim University graduates interested in working in the public sector is increasing year by year. In the 2023-2024 academic year, 29 students expressed interest, while last academic year the number reached 32. This is a clear indicator of the university’s success in preparing qualified and active specialists for the public sector.

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has repeatedly emphasized the importance of this direction, stating: “We must renew the civil service by attracting young professionals. This is an investment in the country’s future.” The Head of State’s policy on modernizing public administration and involving youth in this field is a crucial foundation for the country’s sustainable development and prosperity. Ultimately, the development of the state is directly linked to the activity of young people, their professional competence, and dedication to their country.
