Shakarim University has been accepted as an associate member of the International Association of Universities of the Third Age (AIUTA).

Today, the AIUTA association unites higher education institutions, educational centers, and research institutions from more than 50 countries around the world. The main goal of the organization is to support the idea of lifelong learning, create conditions for increasing the knowledge level of adults and elderly people, as well as develop scientific research, cultural, and social projects on the international stage.
Shakarim University’s membership in this community is one of the key initiatives aimed at developing the education system. Currently, the university actively implements educational, creative, and social projects for the older generation.
One of these projects is the “Silver University” — a socio-cognitive initiative implemented in Kazakhstan. It makes a significant contribution to the activation of the socio-cultural life of society. Within the framework of the project, courses, seminars, training sessions, and creative clubs on various topics are organized for elderly people.
The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Shakarim University participated in a meeting with the president of the International Association of Universities of the Third Age (AIUTA), Professor François Vellas, during his visit to Kazakhstan and signed a memorandum of cooperation.
Shakarim University’s joining the association became a new step in the development of international cooperation in the field of education and science in the region. The new status will allow the university to:
improve educational programs for the older generation;
expand the “Silver University” project;
develop social tourism and cultural-educational initiatives;
open new opportunities for international exchange of experience and interaction with foreign partners.
This step is an important part of the university’s internationalization strategy and will contribute to strengthening educational and social projects at regional, national, and international levels.
According to the university leadership, membership in AIUTA is not only recognition on the international stage but also an opportunity to make education more accessible, implement modern programs, and follow current global trends. This achievement of Shakarim University will strengthen its position in the global educational space and give an impetus to the scientific and cultural development of the region.
