Cooperation Between Shakarim University and Ankang University

A delegation from Ankang University, located in Shaanxi Province of the People’s Republic of China, paid an official visit to Shakarim University. The delegation included Yu Jin, President of Ankang University; Wang Yirui, Director of the Department of Faculties and Human Resources; Wang Kegang, Dean of the School of Electronics and Information Engineering; Yang Fang, Deputy Dean of the School of Modern Agriculture and Biotechnology; and Li Bolin, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Development.

During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the fields of higher education and scientific research. The delegates met with the deans of Shakarim University’s higher and research schools, where they explored opportunities for dual-degree programs, doctoral-level education, and joint research projects.

At the meeting with the university administration, Rector Duman Orynbekov presented the university’s scientific and innovative potential, academic achievements, and international partnerships. He emphasized that, with the support of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, significant attention is being paid to the development of science, which drives the rapid growth of regional universities.

Following the negotiations, the two universities signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The parties agreed to establish long-term and sustainable collaboration in such areas as research on selenium-based agricultural technologies, mutual recognition of food processing standards, academic exchanges, and personnel training.

The guests visited Shakarim Lab and the Engineering Center, where they learned about innovative projects developed by students and young researchers. The delegation highly praised the university’s scientific infrastructure and expressed interest in conducting joint studies in the future.

As part of their visit, the delegation also toured the State Historical, Cultural, and Literary-Memorial Museum-Reserve “Zhidebai–Borili”, delving into the life and legacy of the great Kazakh philosopher Abai Kunanbaiuly. They also visited the Shakarim Museum located in the university’s main building, where they learned about the life, wisdom, and legacy of Shakarim Kudaiberdyuly, as well as the rich history of the university itself.

It should be noted that Ankang University, founded in 1958, is one of the leading public universities in Shaanxi Province. Today, the university maintains active partnerships with institutions in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Taiwan.
