STUDENTS OF SHAKARIM UNIVERSITY TOOK PART IN THE "TAZA KAZAKHSTAN" CAMPAIGN

On April 22, International Mother Earth Day, Shakarim University students actively participated in the environmental campaign "Taza Kazakhstan." This campaign is of particular significance for the region, as the Abay region is home to a unique relict pine forest, similar to that found only in Canada. Today, global climate change, large-scale wildfires, and environmental pollution are becoming increasingly pressing issues, affecting the lives of millions of people worldwide.

The Kazakh people traditionally revere the spirit of the earth, which in their culture acts as a life-giving force, nurturing both people and nature. Caring for and respecting the land are key aspects of Kazakh identity, passed down from generation to generation. In the modern world, these traditions serve as a reminder of the importance of sustainable interaction with nature and the need to preserve natural resources for future generations.

In early April, the national environmental campaign "Taza Kazakhstan" was launched across the country. The large-scale environmental campaign will last five weeks, with each week dedicated to a specific theme. The event was held as part of the "Zhasyl Aimak" week in partnership with the Abay Regional Akimat and Shakarim University youth.

This activity highlights the responsibility and willingness of young people to take proactive steps to protect and preserve nature. The tree planting initiative also helps strengthen environmental awareness and instill in students a sense of respect for their country's natural resources. "Taza Kazakhstan" is more than just a campaign; it is a movement toward a greener and more sustainable future, and Shakarim University students are proud to be part of this important process.

It's worth noting that Shakarim University is one of the greenest universities by global standards, ranking 9th in Kazakhstan and 812th globally.
