The pursuit of environmental safety and sustainable development is one of the key priorities of our time. In this regard, the "Concept for the Development of the Environmental Culture of the Population for 2024–2029" and the national initiative "Clean Kazakhstan" have been adopted, calling on every citizen to treat nature with care. This is not just a government-level program — it should become a way of life that starts with every individual, every home, and every street.
At the "Clean Kazakhstan" environmental festival held on April 21, 2025, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, emphasized the importance of this direction by stating:
"Cleanliness must begin with each person, each home, every street and every city. Because ‘Clean Kazakhstan’ is not a one-day campaign. It is our lifestyle."
Caring for nature by every citizen is the foundation of environmental culture. In this context, the faculty and students of Shakarim University are also actively supporting the “Clean Kazakhstan” initiative by taking practical steps to protect the environment.
To support this initiative, the university community organized cleanup activities around educational buildings and contributed to landscaping efforts. Students and staff took part in a cleanup day, removing litter, caring for greenery, and watering flowers and trees. This initiative is aimed not only at maintaining cleanliness but also at fostering love for nature among young people, promoting collective responsibility, and cultivating environmental awareness.
Through such activities, the university demonstrates that environmental culture must become a part of everyday life. Moreover, it serves as a powerful example for youth, showing how to care for nature and contribute to the beautification of their homeland.
Shakarim University’s initiative aligns perfectly with the goals of the national project "Clean Kazakhstan" and is commendable as an essential step in nurturing a responsible younger generation for the future of the country.
