"Silver University" for Senior Citizens

“Lifelong learning” is one of the key principles of our time. Continuous development of knowledge and skills is a vital way to improve quality of life and maintain social engagement.
At the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel of Shakarim University, the “Silver University” project continues its successful operation.
The project was launched in the second half of 2021, based on the Concept of “Lifelong Learning (Continuous Education),” approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on July 8, 2021, by Resolution No. 471.
Currently, under an agreement between Shakarim University and the No. 3 Specialized Center for Social Services and Active Aging in Semey, several educational programs are offered to participants. These include courses in Kazakh, Turkish, and English languages, financial literacy, physical education, healthy nutrition, and psychological well-being. All of these programs are provided free of charge.
The new academic term begins in October. In the 2024–2025 academic year, learners who have completed the A1 level of the Turkish language will be able to continue at the A2 level. In addition, the Department of Economics and Finance is planning a special course on financial literacy and financial security. The Department of Food Technology will offer an educational course titled “The Importance and Purpose of Gero-Dietary Nutrition.” Meanwhile, the Department of Physical Education and Sports will launch a program called “Self-Discipline and Self-Development in Sports,” aimed at helping older adults adapt to modern life and support their personal development.
“Silver University” is a socially important initiative that provides new opportunities through education to people of all ages and fosters stronger connections with society.
